Description

9907-164 Floating Point Programming Display

The 9907-164 includes basic LabVIEW programming constructs such as while loops, for loops, and case structures. It also features floating-point maths and analytics without requiring too much in-depth understanding of integer and fixed-point data types. In addition, LabVIEW WSN Pioneer provides hyperbolic, exponential, and trigonometric functions, as well as string manipulation functions that customise the user information sent back to the host computer.

The 9907-164 enables the compilation and deployment of applications on the nodes through the wireless network with just a mouse click, enabling rapid development and testing. In addition, there is no need to assign a technician to the site to manually load new applications during system deployment, thus reducing the maintenance costs of the wireless system. The measurement nodes are controlled by TI MSP430 microcontrollers that are optimised for low-power, extended-use deployments rather than optimising processor speed, memory, and computing power.

Due to the optimisation for power consumption, the 9907-164 has limited performance compared to other embedded LabVIEW targets. This limited performance is the reason LabVIEW WSN is called a pioneer module. For example, LabVIEW WSN Pioneer does not include LabVIEW debugging features such as highlighted execution and single-step debugging while running. However, you can send and receive string-based user messages to and from nodes for debugging deployed applications. Also, LabVIEW WSN Pioneer supports only sequential execution, so parallel LabVIEW structures cannot be executed concurrently. Only trigonometric, exponential, and hyperbolic analysis functions are supported because nodes have only limited resources; however, users can create custom functions for use in LabVIEW WSN Pioneer with floating-point mathematical functions.
