FC-TSAI-1620M Rotary Encoder


The FC-TSAI-1620M module is built on Profichip’s PLC7001 chip. The previous generation, the PLC7000, has been in use for almost 4 years and has over 20,000 application examples worldwide.The PLC7001 builds on the technical core of the PLC7000 and provides extended IO features with up to 32 digital inputs and 24 digital outputs directly on the chip.The I/O interfaces can be configured to provide advanced user functions. For example, many hardware counter modes.

The FC-TSAI-1620M’s 16 digital inputs can be used for chip-based alarm functions to meet low latency and fast response times in harsh system conditions, as well as to provide the ability to capture fast event times very accurately. The built-in real-time clock, which can be powered via an external battery buffer, allows precise time stamping and clock synchronisation control tasks. SSI interfaces for rotary encoders, 4-channel PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) and stepper motor control interfaces will be supported in a future firmware update.

The FC-TSAI-1620M module is equipped with a 16-bit SRAM interface to an external FPGA or a dual-port RAM corresponding to a 1024 bytes address space in the PLC I/O mapping area. this interface can easily be used for sharing data with external communication interfaces such as PROFIBUS or CAN-Master, which act like integrated PLC memory.
